    Qualifications

    • PhD degree within Molecular Biology, Cell biology, or related fields,
    • Strong background in Molecular Biology, Protein Engineering, and Assay Development
    • At least 2 years of demonstrated lab experience with protein biochemistry, using techniques such as Western Blot, affinity tag purification, pulldowns
    • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in molecular biology tools, such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, and ELISA
    • At least 2 years of experience with molecular cloning in E. coli
    • At least 2 years of experience with advanced microscopy techniques and image analysis tools
    • Extensive experience with mammalian cell cultures and gene expression manipulation
    • Strong track record within scientific publishing, including both research articles and reviews

    Preference

    • Previous experience with phage display technologies
    • Previous experience with bioinformatics tools and scripting
    • Previous experience with lentivirus production and mammalian cell transduction
    • Strong understanding of structural biology and protein-protein interactions
    • Documented international experience (spending minimum 3 years abroad from his/her home country during his/her studies)

Good communication skills in both written and spoken English are expected.

    Responsibilities/ Job Description

    The postdoc project will explore different ways of discovering, expressing, and characterizing human monoclonal antibodies with special binding properties against snake toxins with the purpose of creating recombinant antivenoms – hereunder using cellular biology to study antibody binding dynamics.     About Research project

    Research in the Tropical Pharmacology Lab is focused on the use of phage display technology for antibody discovery, as well as toxinology and biotherapeutics.
