Assistant professor (tenure track): Candidates must demonstrate potential for outstanding research and teaching. Some years of post-graduate research and publication experience is required. Experience from successful external research collaborations with industry and academia, project management skills, and experience in attraction of external funding is preferred.
Associate professor: Candidates must have a strong academic background, documented successful grant writing and experience with project management, industrial/public sector collaboration, as well as teaching and supervision experience
- The candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Relevant industrial R&D experience is considered positive. Candidates must, relative to their career stage, have an exceptional record of research accomplishment, a record of sustained external funding, with concomitant nationally or internationally recognized leadership in their field.
- The candidates are expected to be able to drive the build-up of internationally competitive research activities, and/or contribute to strengthening the current research activities. Commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including existing courses and development of new courses, is expected in the extend that it can be combined with the Head of Degree Program function.
Responsibilities/ Job Description
The successful applicant will be working with the chemical basis of relevant processes and their translation into solving societal and industrial challenges. This position will support the strategic agenda of the university by extending the current range of strong competences in BCE. Possible topics for the position are all related to Chemical Engineering research and include, but is not restricted to, one of the following research areas:
- Functional Materials
- Biobased polymers
- Process Engineering
It is crucial that candidates have a deep understanding of real world systems and the ability to implement research in industrial applications. Ability to relate research to achievement of UN sustainability goals will be emphasized as well.
It is an additional requirement that the successful candidate has strong interest in teaching, university education, and is willing and motivated to take the responsibility as Head of Degree Programme for the Chemical Engineering degrees at BCE. Extensive support for this task can be expected, as well as a significant reduction of teaching loads. Experience with developing and managing educational programs in chemical engineering will be considered an advantage, but is not a requirement.

About Department of Biological and Chemical Engineering
The Biological and Chemical Engineering Section has strong chemical engineering research areas within Environmental engineering, Materials Engineering and Process Engineering. Close collaboration with the Departments of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Molecular Biology & Genetics, iNano, Biosciences, Food, Agroecology and Chemistry, is a natural part of our culture. The successful applicant will be working with Chemical Engineering and will produce and disseminate knowledge and research results in the relevant field. Translation of results into solving relevant societal problems is a highly prioritized part of our work.
- Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. - Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
