    Qualifications

    As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent)

    Preference

    Experience in the development and incorporation of technologies in marine environments is desirable. Further, candidates are expected to have published in scientific peer-reviewed journals and have a scientific production equivalent to a postdoc of 2 years in fisheries technology or a related field.

    Your overall focus will be to strengthen the section’s competences within the development and testing of technical solutions that can improve the environmental and economic sustainability of commercial fisheries with Denmark. You will work with nearby colleagues, and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad. Your primary tasks will be to:

    Responsibilities/ Job Description

    Your overall focus will be to strengthen the section’s competences within the development and testing of technical solutions that can improve the environmental and economic sustainability of commercial fisheries with Denmark. You will work with nearby colleagues, and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad. Your primary tasks will be to:

    • Lead and participate in national and international projects through the generation of new ideas in collaboration with end users;
    • Participate and coordinate sea trials on board research and commercial fishing vessels;
    • Analyse data using a range of modern statistical techniques;
    • Teach and supervise BSc and MSc student projects, and be co-supervisor for PhD students;
    • Contribute in the dissemination of research at an international level;
    • Participate in providing advice related to fishing gear to national and international authorities.

    About Section for Fisheries Technology at DTU Aqua

    The Section for Fisheries Technology works with technological development of gear, techniques and methods that can contribute to promoting economic and environmental sustainability in the fishing industry, and which can support society’s need to regulate fishing.

    The Section is part of DTU Aqua (National Institute of Aquatic Resources). The purpose of the Institute is to provide research, advice and education at the highest international level within the sustainable exploitation and management of living marine and freshwater resources. The Institute investigates the biology and population ecology of aquatic organisms, aquatic physical and chemical processes and ecosystem structure and dynamics, taking account of all relevant natural and anthropogenic drivers
