    Qualifications

    We look to hire a strong candidate that can contribute to the field of computing education research and hold a Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the broad topics of computing education or computational thinking

    Preference

    The ideal candidate should document:

    • Publications of relevant research at a high international level in well-respected peer-reviewed computing educational research venues; e.g., ACM Transactions on Computing Education (TOCE), Computer Science Education (CSE), ACM International Computing Education Research Conference (ICER), SIGCSE Technical Symposium (SIGCSE-TS), ACM Conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE).
    • Competences in developing and conducting teaching that is well received by students
    • A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which he/she has worked, for example, participation in committees, etc.

    Responsibilities/ Job Description

    The candidate is expected to conduct research contributing to one or more of the following areas:

    • The nature of computing and computational thinking and the way they can be operationalized to influence contemporary digital landscape;
    • Theories, methodologies and best practices of teaching computing and computational thinking;
    • The embedment of computational thinking within the broad social and cultural context of contemporary digital societies;
    • The ways of applying computational thinking to other disciplines – especially the ones that are perceived as far removed from it;
    • Rigorous critical reflection on computing technologies and the current state of computing education;
    • The evolution of online teaching – its role and its image in the post-lockdown world; and
    • The increase of diversity and inclusiveness of computing education programs – especially in the case of minorities that have been neglected in the ongoing discussions.
